Emma Bajmat

Former BSc Student
MEMS Engineer

I’m Emma, a MEMS Engineer in The Gheidari Lab, using my unique background as a former programmer and current theoretical physics student. My journey in the lab began with my BSc thesis, where I contributed to the design, simulation, and fabrication of micro-scale Wien Filter as part of a physics-based research project. For this, I integrated FEM simulations, algorithm development, and cleanroom techniques to turn theoretical designs into validated, functional structures.
Now, as an engineer, I apply that expertise to support the fabrication of various MEMS projects across the lab, utilizing the facilities at both the Kavli Nanolab and the Else Kooi Laboratory.
My decision to stay was driven by the incredibly open and helpful environment I experienced during my thesis. The constant support and willingness of colleagues to take time for questions create a truly collaborative and inspiring atmosphere. I am dedicated to maintaining and extending that same supportive feeling for new students and colleagues, and I’m always up for a talk about a difficult problem, so don’t hesitate to approach me!”
