Martijn Adriaans

PhD Student
MEMS Monochromator

I am Martijn from Sint-Oedenrode, the Netherlands. I obtained my BSc and MSc in Applied Physics from TU/e. For my MSc thesis, I worked with Ali on correcting aberrations in a multibeam electron source. After two years in industry, I returned to academia to pursue my PhD in “The Gheidari group” at TU Delft.

My PhD thesis focuses on developing a compact and modular MEMS-based monochromator that’s simpler and more affordable to integrate into an SEM. The “rainbow” in the picture shows the dispersive path electrons take inside the device.

Outside the lab, I enjoy bouldering, snowboarding, hiking, and other sports, as well as creative hobbies like working with clay and singing in the shower.
